Educational Program

Partnering with a team of experienced early childhood education professionals and having experience in the development and operation of child care centers; we have created a daily program that offers the best in educational curriculum. Enrichment activities that boost self-esteem will help young learners to build a foundation that sets the stage for educational success. We use Creative Curriculum to stimulate emerging skills in a developmentally appropriate fashion. Our teachers use regular observation and assessment to insure that each child grows and develops at their own pace. Believing that language and math skills set the stage for learning and problem-solving, we begin stimulating both areas in a developmentally appropriate way, beginning with our youngest children.  From story time to center time, math and language are integrated throughout our children’s day. Children need boundaries and routines.  Our Daily schedules include blocks of time for large group participation, small group interaction, independent learning in learning centers, and outside exploration and play. In addition, each classroom has scheduled mealtimes, snack times and rest times.  Daily schedules are posted in each classroom.

Below is an overview of our programs:

Infants (6 weeks to 12 months)

Our infant program is tailored to meet the individual needs of each infant.  With small class size and individualized attention, our infants receive the best possible care to nurture their growth and development.  Each infant has their own feeding and sleeping plan that is tailored to suit their needs.  Infants are provided with ample tummy time to explore and learn through their senses. Caregivers interact frequently with each child, giving them opportunities to develop receptive and expressive language skills as well as social/emotional skills.

Toddlers (12-24 months)

Our toddler program is designed for the active and emerging young child who is learning to walk and move about.  The classroom has plenty of space for little ones to explore and learn.  Caregivers sing songs and read simple stories with plenty of movement. Toddlers learn by exploring through their senses and through play.  With small class size and individual attention, children have many opportunitues to learn and grow at their own pace.

Twos (24-36 months)

Our two-year-old classroom is designed for the active two year-old. Learning centers are introduced and children have many opportunities to learn through play.  Age-appropriate blocks, dramatic play, puzzles, and sensory experiences are enjoyed daily.  Caregivers work with children in circle time on learning colors, shapes, letters, numbers, counting, and more.  Through the Creative Curriculum, children learn songs, fingerplays, and hear stories connected to a central weekly learning theme.  Potty-training is introduced when children are developmentally ready.

Preschool (36-60 months)

Our preschool classroom is designed to prepare preschoolers for Pre-K and Kindergarten.  Children in the preschool class learn through play and exploration.  The daily schedule consists of a balance of child-directed and teacher-led activities to help children learn and develop.   Preschool teachers spend time in group activities teaching colors, shapes, letters, numbers, and other important concepts.  Children learn fingerplays, songs, and hear stories connnected to a central weekly learning theme.  Children are introduced to a new letter and number each week and learn new vocabulary words related to each letter.

Georgia Pre-K (4-5 years)

All three of our centers have Georgia Pre-K classes!  Children who are four years old on or before September 1st of each school year may attend our Lottery-funded Georgia Pre-K program.  The program runs from August to May each year and follows Gwinnett County Public Schools' schedule.  Class hours are 8:00-2:30 or 8:30-3:00 depending on the location and class. Each class is taught by a certified teacher and a credentialed assistant. Children in this classroom learn the necessary skills that will prepare them for Kindergarten. Before and/or after school care is available for our Pre-K students.

School Age Program (6-12 years)

1st Creative Learning Academy offers a program to fit the needs of working parents and children who require before and after school care.  Students participating in this program will be taken to and/or picked up from local schools.  Our after school age program is designed with the needs of the older child in mind.  We offer opportunities for active and quiet play, arts and crafts, games, outdoor recreation and special projects.  Additionally, a quiet area will be provided for children who need to work on homework or prefer quiet reading.  Snacks will be provided for all students upon arrival from school.

Summer Camp

When school is out during the summer, 1st Creative Learning Academy offers a full-day summer camp for school-age children designed with age appropriate activities. Detailed activity schedules will be available in the front office in the spring.
